I’ve just driven out and back to Ludlow (2 x 25 miles) to collect my wife from a Hen Do. I bought the car on Thursday and this trip was on Sunday.

Both the Ludlow Road and the “SLK” were magnificent!

This is UK “B Road” - 60mph, wiggly to the max, and peppered with villages. It runs through the beautiful Corve Valley with “gert big” hills on both sides. As I started to brake for the first corner, I realised that it was 100% optional! The car is heavy, low and wide with elegantly staggered, brand new tyres. The steering is quite heavy, which makes B roads fantastic. The Kompressor kicks in progressively from around 2,000rpm and peacefully overcomes those lesser cars clogging up the valley. The sound of the “blown” engine winding up was so seductive, I turned off the stereo!

The seats are perfectly snug meaning we both stayed put. With the top down, the side windows up and the Airscarves on high, we whipped home in perfect comfort.

I must have driven this route >200 times in the last 30 years but was my most exhilarating drive to Ludlow. I’ll remember it vividly even after those repair bills start…

I have to laugh about turning off the stereo. So many people on this site junking the stereo for something louder!

Nice writing. Thanks

Just want to mention the bottle of air esence right over the central console is a no-go. I have had to incidents with those bottles, one simply dropped because of the hanging elastic band destroying itself, and the other the wooden top cover no longer held against the threads, falling and spilling the sticky liquid inside, all over the console.
Those liquids and electronics don't match well, cosmetic damages aside.
