Geneva to Madrid

Decided to change horizon, so decided to work remotely from Madrid for two weeks. And decided to drive the 1'385km from Geneva. An easy 15 hours ride.

First comment: a real breeze! the SLK is really made for this 🤩. A surprisingly comfortable ride for anyone wondering. I would even say the SLK is gamifying the long-distance driving, especially at higher speeds 😄 Tried topless driving but the heat of center Spain (41°C) made it like riding through a superheated wind tunnel.

I drove via La Jonquera, then the C-25 West and AP-II to Madrid. Refueled at Fornells Parc, after 692km. Refilled 59l until the nozzle shut off. That's a consumption of 8.5l/100km or 27.7mpg. New oil, air filter and new spark plugs. I expected closer to 7 liters or 33mpg but higher speeds call for higher consumption. Still not bad considering the comfort and speed.

Modern Madrid norte is quite photogenic for a SLK

The ride to Madrid was lovely. Longer stretches of excellent motorway with occasional large and sharper twists make is a real game for the SLK. One must be really awake as Spanish drivers have odd ways, change lanes ignoring the incoming vehicle, often sharply across the motorway to exit. But always use blinker! Trucks are many and also frequently change lane to overtake a 1kmh slower truck. No sense playing chicken with a truck. Be ready to brake strongly once in a while and watch the idiot that is following because they often react slowly.

Ca. 200km near Madrid, I was met by two Lamborghinis and the real fun started. Can't write the speeds, but the SLK 200 was quite up to the game. An hour or so later ;), a friendly salute between fellow drivers and the SLK was on the Castellana quicker than expected 😄

NOT silly at all. You cannot add vids directly.

Upload them to utube then add the "share link" to a post here. I usually do a share to my email (force of habit) then copy/paste that link into the post here.
