For the Nurburgring in June , but this time we've managed to book when the Grand Prix track is also open to the public which is a rarity , but the novelty of having both the gp track and the old Nurburgring open should make things even more interesting than usual !
I'm surprised no one on here makes the trip over , I rarely see any other slc - slk mercs there when I visit , in fact thinking about it I've only ever seen 1 black 43 amg and 1 white 55 amg over the last few years .

I have booked to take mine over in September, 9 of us doing a road trip through the alps then to the Ring, looking forward to it

Bloody corona won't beat our boys jolly , re scheduled our annual ring trip for mid August , Yokohama ad08 tyres re fitted , high temp pads and fluid going in next week and I fitted the tuning box a little while ago so hopefully I'll be able to better assess it when I get to the track , if we get there this time !!!
Also worth noting we're supposed to have the full vln track , nordschliffe and gp track combined , for the first night so I'm really hoping we get there as in the past 17 years or so it's the first time I've seen it advertised open when we travel .

Good work, we are still booked for middle of September, waiting for confirmation from Monza that we can go on the grandstand for the classic race and when we get to the Ring the DTM has been re arranged for the same weekend, Nordshliffe is still open so all good, just done the performance pads and high boiling point fluid, stiffer shocks, adjustable springs, larger crank pulley and running Hankook tyres but can't remember the model number

Have you been before ? If not treat it as an unknown public road , which it is on tourist days , and don't get drawn into a race with seemingly slower , similar or faster cars than yours and you'll be fine , but keep one eye on your mirror as some of the cars gain on you extremely quickly , I've been passed numerous times while traveling at 140mph , but don't get bullied off line mid corner to risk an accident , any decent track users will give you enough time to move over when it's safe for you to do so but there's always some dickhead who thinks he owns the track and will try to intimidate you then drive off after you've run into problems, or the Armco ! The rules are posted in the ticket office and at various places around the car parks and the marshals take aggressive or dangerous driving very seriously. I've reported a couple of people for speeding in restricted areas in barrier works where people are working .
Good luck , you'll love it .
If you want decent food you may need to drive 30 mins along the road to mayen , we stay there now as it's better than Adenauer , the restaurants are ok there but have gone downhill , unless your willing to live off oversize pizza !

I haven't done it before but 6 out of the 9 of us going have done the trip before so hopefully I'm in good company,

Looking forward to seeing pictures if you upload any

Unfortunately I'm not a picture taker , probably due to my ancient phone that won't even connect to the internet any more .
Enjoy your trip , it's a great place for anyone remotely interested in cars , try the go cart track if the weather isn't great or the track is closed .

Well we got there eventually, in between lockdowns !
The complete vln track was indeed open but as I've never actually driven the gp track it took a couple of laps to get my bearings , the first half of the gp track is deceptively difficult to drive due to the cambers , the second half is great , and I know the old track very well so I was actually pleased to get on it , I got spanked by a new 911 gts on the gp track as he'd been there all day on the Porsche experience day but I was gaining on him on the old track as I'm guessing I knew it better than he did . The session came to an abrupt end when a classic mini and a 944 came together with the mini ending up on its roof !
Managed a couple of laps the next day before it rained and the third day it's almost like the heavens were waiting for 5.15 pm as as soon as the track opened so did the clouds with torrential rain so we retired immediately to the bar ! Pity as we all had laps left on our tickets but we can use them next time .
All in all it was a much needed break from corona .
Sorry no pics but if you search youtube "touristfarten 10-08-2020" I pass the stationary camera , but believe me it's not worth searching for , it's possibly the most tedious ring video ever
