Travel summer 2020 will start this time on a very small scale. As the restrictions were only easing in the early weeks of June, there was unfortunately no option but to make a small five-day road trip in the Baltics.

DAY 1:

The woman in the reception boot praised SLK as beautiful.

On the eve of the first trip this summer.

There was no crowd or the traffic jam.

After a couple of hours of crossing we met at a restaurant. Practices changed slightly. There was no buff but you played what you wanted and some of the foods, like breads, were pre-patched in plastic wrap

And right on the road. First destination is Jurmala

The air began to turn gray.

And road work queuing it started to rain.

Bad rear tires forced me to calm down a bit in the wet weather.

I don't know why but I forgot again that the navi steers through Riga centrum when heading to Jurmala. My bad.

Four o clock traffic jams were hit. There was nothing to do any more but skim forward.

Eventually we got to Jurmala and threw our stuff into a small hotel called Alba. There was no major people crowding here. Many places closed.

Among other things, this sleek-looking hotel has probably been closed some time.

Within walking distance we found a very pleasant relatively fresh restaurant Madam Brios which offered ok burger with beer.

It was nice to admire the local urban landscape.

And houses

I will post the rest a bit later...

DAY 2, a.

In the morning we left Jurmala towards the local west coast.

Road E22 towards Ventspils.

Occasionally there were funny buildings.

Old G's were surprisingly common vehicles.

In MB's old navi we trust.

Through small villages.

Landscapes were pretty Finnish after all.

DAY 2, b

Ventspils is an old port and sawmill city.

Interesting ligh posts.

Gf wanted to go local shopping hell. Referring to an earlier sawmill town comment, one could smell the scent of fresh cut wood in the air.

After leaving Rimi in Ventspils, I saw a flower ox at that time. Nice.

At times, the roads were poor due to the slow progress of the road works. I was worried about my poor rear tires.

Fortunately, the intersection from which the turn was approached and there was no need to continue with gravel paving.

The road was even good in places.

Many exciting and pretty roadside restaurants were closed. Sad time this epidemic-*rap

Some local old Merc.

At times, there were quite a few vacant properties.

Sheeps side of the road.

In Liepaja, the route passed through a rather bad looking suburb. People were hmm ... pretty tired looking. The apartment buildings had been boarded up. Some of the apartments burned down.

As we approached the center of Liepaja, it was already much nicer.

Approaching the border ...

In Lithuania it was quite calm on the road.

DAY2, c

In Klaipeda we chose a hotel called Memel. A random cat ran across the courtyard. Cat looked good.

It was good to look at own car from the window of our room.

The hotel’s outdoor terrace was also good for eye-balling my car.

Eventually we set foot to explore the city of Klaipeda.

Bice looking old building and cobblestone.

Yo!

Park under construction

Some local E63

Then we went astray and wander to the side.

Local cats rested peacefully on the grounds of an apartment building.

This guy clearly had her own home when there was a water cup next to the door.

DAY 2, d.

Adventure? Gf wasn't enthusiastic about it.

Beautiful production facility.

Up in the bridge.

Danes Up across the city.

Back under the bridge.

It's good to hike here.

Eventually we headed back towards the center.

Hienoja vesirakennelmia.

CLS63

Old town.

Music center.

Worlds first identified motorcyclist from the time of Jesus.

Although in the picture the situation does not convey so as the evening fades, the local youth disciplined the V8 Mercs Beemers and Audis dragged from Germany. The feeling in the air was clearly perceptible, which has already disappeared in some places in Finland, ie the culture of urban villages. The subwoofers were beaten and cars were shouted. I remembered the times 10-15 years ago.

DAY 3:

In the morning, we set off in peace from the Memel Hotel in Klaipeda towards Vilnius.

The drive of the day is just over 300km of direct motorway. I set cruise to 140kmh and let loose.

Some rare cars around here.

Otherwise it was pretty calm on road.

We had quickly drove to our destination, the Artis Hotel next to Vilnius old town. This was actually booked by the original hotel as the original hotel was closed and canceled our booking.

During this epidemic era there wasn't many travellers. That can bee seen on prizes. We took big two room suite. One night for two persons, car parking and breakfast was only 60€.

Nato next door.

We went to walk and exploreing the city.

Beer of course.

More of old town.

Police monitored the local driving. We stayed to eat at the hut and watched as the wealthier local youth toured the ring with fairly high dollar or othervice exotic cars. It was nice to listen to the exhaust sounds. Gf was not so excited.

As I watched the wires of the poorly mounted street light from the window of the suite, I am amused to wonder about the mask code here and how much it can vary. In Klaipeda, rags were occasionally seen in people. No more than anywhere else. Here in Vilnius, people forcibly pulled the sheet in front indoors. The youth mostly just lifted their shirts over their noses. We were even thrown out of Vinateeka (local liquer store) becourse we didn't have rags.

DAY 4:

In the morning we set off from Vilnius towards Tartu. It was a 540km drive in the deepest Baltics.

The roads flowed just fine and the air was cool for a longer drive.

No major trafic.

Smaller air port?

Truck passed each other.

Over the borders.

Navi map.

Coyntry side

A bit larger bug.

Eventually we achieved Tartu. The drive had gone completely painless, because of fairly good roads and low trafic.

Tartu Hotel. Outside was a bit wored out may I say but inside was clean and new.

We didn't spent any more time in room. We were hungry.

Special Merc.

Nice and calm.

Estonia has legalized light cannabis. Magic biscuits makes you happy.

Lexus?

DAY 5:

The drive from Tartu to Tallinn was only 185 km so in the morning there was still a lot of time for wlak around in Tartu.

in the end it was time to hit the road.

The driving was very numb. The landscapes are very traditional and nothing bigger to mention.

Talllinnn.

Prices in Tallinn had already risen. One night for two people with jacuzzi suite and car parking already cost well over 100€.

While we headed to Argentinean-style steak to eat it was good time to have a look at the city.

Strange is hobbies.

Same church as above but different direction.

Parked for a while.
