While cruising the car just quit

For the second time in as many years while driving down the road in my 2004 SLK230 Kompressor the car just appeared to stop accelerating like it was kicked out of gear or something. Both times I pulled to the side of the road, shifted to park and once I shifted back to drive the car drove as normal. The behavior was not repeated for the rest of the day. Anyone ever experienced anything similar?

I'm guessing 'limp mode'? Early SLK did not light up a code but a code was generated nevertheless.

Scan for codes and report findings.

It could be the acceleration pedal. It can produce a rubber band effect on acceleration that feels like limp mode. The CEL isn't always lit when this happens, but a code is stored nonetheless. So scan the car :)

In my 05 350 this happened but if IIRC correctly the car died. It started back up and I “limped” it home with a CEL. Scan showed faulty coil. Replaced all cleared codes life was good.

the pedal post does make sense. I second the motion to get your car scanned (preferably MB STAR DAS)
