SLK R170 230 Kompressor – engine shaking and fluctuating RPM, previously had P0341. MAF?

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to figure out a rather annoying problem with the engine.

A while ago I had the car scanned and it showed P0341 – Camshaft Hall effect sensor (B48). I replaced the camshaft sensor with a new one and it ran just as fine. I also cleaned and resealed the cam magnet/adjuster because it was leaking oil, and there was oil around the connector/pins. I used high-temperature RTV silicone to reseal it.

I also cleaned the MAF sensor using electronics contact cleaner. I know that's not specifically MAF cleaner, but I've seen people use it for this purpose. When I disconnect the MAF, the car runs noticeably worse (but it was before cleaning it, I didn't checked it recently), especially when pulling away, so it seems to be doing something at least.

The main problem is that the car can shake and jerk quite badly, especially after starting and during the first part of a drive. The RPM also fluctuates up and down when this happens. Sometimes after driving for a short distance it gets better, but today it was shaking much more than usual. It happens at 2nd gear when RPM drops after shifting from 1st gear.

The P0341 code was recorded before I replaced the sensor, so I haven't yet confirmed whether the code comes back with the new sensor. I need to scan the car again and check.

I've also noticed that when I give the engine some throttle, around the throttle body on the side opposite the airbox, I can hear a sort of sucking/"kissing" or air intake noise, almost as if air is being sucked in somewhere. I'm not sure if that's normal for the 230K or if it could indicate a vacuum/intake leak.

There is also another issue which may be completely unrelated: when braking and then releasing the brake pedal, I can hear a single knocking/clunking sound from the front, seemingly from the left side. It sounds almost like something has some play and moves back into position when the brake is released.
Has anyone experienced similar symptoms? Especially the engine shaking/fluctuating RPM and the previous P0341 code.

Any ideas where I should start looking would be greatly appreciated.

well,two choices:

edit the above post by cutting out the brake issue and creating a new post by pasting it in a new thread in the "brake" are of the forum

or

leave it be. Your choice but it can't be in both places

Was that braking strong enough for the suspension to compress? Try with and without compression so you can rule out (or confirm) a suspension issue.

it sounds like you are having bad air.
Check around the air hose clamps for any air leaks.
If that turned out to be ok, reset the ECU so that the MAF sensor can relearn itself.
drive around for 15 minutes so the MAF can relearn to your driving patterns.
than everything should be good to go!
