Hello everyone , i just bought a star C3 Multiplexer, i want to use it on a IBM thinkpad r60 with a PCMCIA to RS232 adapter ( i have seen some people with similar setups) , the guy who sold me the star it gave me also a bootable HDD and he told me that only works with dell latitude d630 ( the most common one) , i want to use the thinkpad which i already have.
does somebody have the Das / Xentry / HHTWIN software to install on my thinkpad.

It has a intel core 2 duo T7200 3gb ram and 120gb SSD storage

i tried to boot up from that HDD but its giving me bluescreen and when i put in outside with a HDD rack it sound wierd. i dont trust it.

Thanks

...and the software required is pretty old now
It's do-able - I've done a few on various older hardware platforms - signing up to MHHAuto for some of the software links is handy

To be honest, you'd be better off sourcing a Dell 630 - way less of a headache - clone the bootable drive onto another one if you're unsure of the life of the one you have already.

I stuck a SSD in one of mine and it's speeded things up no end

The deal is that the folks in China who concentrate a lot of resources on defeating copy protection to steal the tech of the western world are good at what they do and very careful about protecting their monopoly.
Surely, like other apps the Benz software comes with install disks and hardened copy protection reinforced by a monthly update program as needed and no doubt nanny contact to OEM servers. Recently in my naivety contacted a half dozen Chinese suppliers about getting a working install set to move my C3 to a more modern pc, I got definite negative responses. Responses like no I can’t make any money from that and similar. So, even if one was to obtain a set of dvd’s chances are you would just end up with a strongly copy protected app. No one is parting with install sets with cracked protection.
Now, I used to be a machine language and assembler programmer in my earlier days out of school in addition to hardware circuit knowledge, when such skills were needed to make computers and their networks function.
I supported the early Appledos and MSdos 1.0 all the way up to windows 10. Can probably figure out how to move my Benz software to a later laptop running a later windows or a faster laptop still running XP.
Since I only support one mercedes, mine and have little interest in fixing cars for a fee at my age, what a waste of time that would be!
My advice is to either bite the bullet and buy a cheaper C3 version for around $500 or under which ought to support any SLK up to about 2016/2017 or to spend more for a later version running on a more modern computer.
Finally, let the youth of our forum come up with something better to offer everyone, haha!
