I’ve had a small problem with the Audio 10cd player in my SLK since fitting the original unit a few months ago. When inserting a disc sometimes it would not play. or when skipping forward to other tracks it would miss the first few seconds of the selected track.
Today after watching a few YouTube videos I decided to remove the player take the top lid off and clean the laser head.
I used some Isopropyl Alcohol, the fluid I use to clean the rubbers seals on my roof & doors.
Using a cotton bud dipped in the fluid I gently wiped the surface of the laser head then used a dry cotton bud to dry it off and polish it. I replaced the cover inserted a disc and hey presto the player is now working as it should.
I was lucky as the laser head did not require adjustment but the YouTube video shows how to do so if adjustment is required. The whole operation was very easy to do and took me about 30 minutes.
I’ve added a couple of pictures (not mine) of the cover screws and how to remove the cover and of the laser head location. I’ve also added links to the two videos I viewed.
