Morning all ...
It's been a fair while since I've posted on here - some of you will have read my posts and retrofits over the last 14 or so years of SLK ownership, but for the last 3 years the SLK has had very little use due to using a diesel C Class for motorway commutes, and now changing to an S Class to replace it so it's only going out every few weeks now ... that said, if theres no interest I might keep it in storage .
You'll have seen the car in various posts all over the site and it's been the subject of quite a few mods and retrofits over the years - it's been a fun car and I'll be sorry to see it go, but they need to be used and enjoyed!!
Mileage is on the higher side (175k) as its been enjoyed whilst I've had it (lots!) and its no pristine Hangar Queen with almost zero miles on it!!
It now has all of the options that I wanted or needed, plus a few others that were fun to do
The details are ...
2005 SLK 55 - the cheaper one to tax in the UK
Cubanite Silver with the usual AMG Turbine wheels
Black Leather interior with black Alcantara headlining
It has the standard BIG floating Brembo's (not the performace package ones)
It's been fully facelifted to the later spec, including the external stuff - bumpers and grills etc, folding mirrors, wheels (same design but with the graphite inserts) and the internal stuf - all switchgear is now black, updated window switches, seat control switches, climate panel, and the heater thumbwheels etc etc as well as the later facelifted dashboard
I fitted a R172 steering wheel / airbag years ago
Airscarf
Parktronic
Digital Climate control
Full tire pressure monitoring
Rain sensing wipers
Easy entry / exit to go with the memory package
Genuine galss wind deflector
Smarttop - a must have !
I did some extensive work on the stereo system and installed an 8" Alpine touch screen, amplifiers and Nav modules along with the full HK speaker setup (all 11) - the Alpine Amps are happy with a 2 ohm load. I intend to refit the stock Audio 20 that was originall removed as I have other plans for the Alpine gear
Various bits of coding have been done to tweak things - temperature on the display, twin rear fogs, Alarm chirp to name a few
Plus all of the usual stuff you get on a 55
I'll post a couple more pics later once It's had a good wash and polish - It's been used this week as the weather is nice !!
Serviced by the main dealer and then the local Indy once I got it, with various other fluid changes carries out at the required intervals
Overall, not in bad nick, but it has been a daily driver so there are stone chips here and there as you'd expect
Everything works as expected - the roof seals are due to be Gummi'd soon - MOT is due around May and will probably be done in the next few weeks.
As you know, these engines are pretty much bomb proof - I have zero worries with this car and would happily drive it up and down the country with no reliabily worries even though its got a few miles on it
Anyways - nice snowy pic attached - I'll get some fresh ones over the weekend
Happy to answer questions via PM etc
