I've completed doing a 4-wheel brake job including rotors and pads. I replaced OEM Brembo two-piece front rotors from The Brembo Store on Amazon for $305.00 each with no shipping costs where they are less expensive than buying direct from Brembo at $536.00 plus shipping. The rear rotors were $94 from The Brembo Store and $158 direct from Brembo. The front and rear pads with Brembo pads are also from The Brembo Store on Amazon.

Here are the links

Mine is a 2006 with the 6-pistion front calipers and 4-pistion rear calipers and the rotors are 340mm (the rotor size with performance package is 360mm) where the build sheet does not show the P30 package however, for 2005-2006 Brembo lists the rotors and pads "with performance package" that fit perfectly as they are 164.6mm long and a single pad on the front even though the car does not have that package disc-brake-pad-set P50092N

As we know Mercedes changed the brakes calipers in newer SLK55 AMG models to 4-pistion front.

Do you feel that two-piece (floating) rotors are .. "better"?

Even though I only have the four-piston front and two rear, I have absolutely no problem locking the brakes at heavy braking.. Turning off the traction control etc (dyno mode) makes it even worse.. So I don't lack stopping power, but anything else that would be "better" with floating ones?

They cost A LOT (!!) extra! I payed £68/disk (front) and £53/disk (rear) - all slotted and perforated. Compare to the over $300/disk (about £245) that you payed..

With the 340mm and two-piece rotor with 6-pistion calipers on the front the car stops quickly with a very good pedal. I decided to go with the ceramic pad rather than the metallic for less brake dust and longer wear and less wear on the rotors as I don't track the car but enjoy driving very spiritually on curving mountain roads.

I want to keep the car as stock as possible and don't have mind paying the extra. People at car shows are shocked by the size of the rotors and those that know a two-piece are surprised. MB/AMG did a good job designing our SLK55's.

I posted a question in one of our sponsor's forums here (EBC) about whether they stock rotors for our SLK's OTHER than the 350 (no other models listed).

Kinda disappointed as I asked a week ago and no reply :(

No, the size I get..

But why three times the cost for floating disks? Paying extra for extra benefit, I'm all for. But what extra do you get with those?
