When you replaced the CPS, did you use an OE Bosch unit? I've heard these CPS are sensitive to aftermarket brands. I was having a long-crank issue on our 320 and a quick CPS swap to a new Bosch unit totally solved the issue. When I was having the issue I ran codes on my X431 and didn't have any.

Nice! Sounds like a great trip! And yeah, one thing about US interstates, you can cover a lot of ground quickly as long as you stay out of major cities. I do SW Tennessee to Toronto Ontario a couple times a year, if I am doing it alone (i.e no kids or wife pitstops) I can do it in about 13.5-14...

Many years ago I had a similar issue on my 01 320, passenger xenon would be fine and then while driving it would flicker and shutoff. If I turned my lights off and back on, it would come back on again for while, but eventually shut itself off. I replaced bulbs, swapped them around, etc and the...

Congrats on the new car! I wouldn't be too worried about the drive, these are surprisingly robust little cars Fluids is a good suggestion, probably more practical to just buy them once you're in Florida than to try and fly with them. Decent socket set, Zip Ties, decent set of pliers, your...

Thanks everyone, some great info in here! In my prior SLKs I did as some of you suggested and kept the originals tucked away, and installed quality aftermarket units. Those SLKs were daily drivers in Ontario Canada and saw lots of wild weather. This one is more of a spare car / fair weather car...

Drove the car again today, both seat heaters worked perfectly, so I am thinking it was just low voltage that first morning. Normal operation does have a 'timer' of sorts, if you select level II, after maybe 10 minutes it'll automatically go down to the level I setting....All my R170's did this...

Well, leaving work tonight the ambient temp has come up to around 38F (3C), same start sequence, turned on the same accessories and the seat heaters worked perfectly. So I am assuming the issue was related to low battery voltage, or something going wonky in the deep cold. To answer Avel Du's...

Recently did my front lock cylinder; like Gbarringer100 describes I was able to replace the o-ring in the cylinder myself. After removing the headliner, I removed the cylinder and then unclipped the hydraulic lines from the roof to get enough free length that I could move the cylinder out the...

Few weeks of bad weather and being sick really slowed down my progress, but got some time this weekend to work on paint correction. Got the hood, roof, trunk lid and all the left side of the car done. So I've got the right side panels and both bumpers left to do. Car has been running great, no...

3M Super 77 Spray Adhesive is my go to for headliners (I have a lot of old GMs and the headliners always fail). I did prep the panel by removing any old loose foam backer left behind from the old material, I used a fairly course wire brush with light pressure and it took the old stuff right off...

DIY. I ordered the material from Amazon, about $30 here in the US, and then pulled the old headliner material off and used it as a template to cut the new material....I added about 3" all the way around to give myself some extra to work with, and once I had it installed I just trimmed any...

Sorry guys, here's the link to the video I referenced. Finally got the headliner done and back into the car today. Decide to go with a faux suede, I think it looks pretty good.

Tackled the leaking top latch cylinder today. The YouTube video below was extremely helpful, and I did the full job in about an hour. Basically removed the cylinder from the bracket, unclipped enough of the line to get the cylinder out the window, used a dremel like in the video to make a notch...

Light switch is a good one. I was going to grab the accelerator pedal assembly too, but didn't have the right socket with me. Can't recall if the instrument cover panel is there, but will check. The trunk is filled with about 4" of water, so the PSE and anything else in there is trashed. Is...

I got a few little tasks done over the last week... Scrubbed the interior and touched up the peeling paint using VLC Siam beige I had on hand from my last car, unfortunately it's drying darker and isn't matching perfectly....Though it matched my 02 Siam beige perfectly. Not sure if the paint is...

    Yeah, looks like #240. Thnx!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Tinkered a bit this morning and refilled the hydraulic pump, which got the top working and moving properly. I pulled the headliner and checked all of the cylinders for leaks and I am not seeing anything suspicious, but will monitor it for awhile. Is there...

Well, it was a pretty light spring project to get the little 230 back into shape. Mechanically it's proven to be very solid; just changed all the fluids and filters, installed new tires (Cooper RS3 G1),and replaced a few bulbs. Cosmetically I painted the interior panels (Volico via eBay), cut...

Thanks BaD. Did you remove the seat in order to get the strut off? Or where you able to take the strut off and reinstall it with the seat in place?
