Hi Everyone, I am sorry I was not aware that my work has spread to this MB Forum - I will just give a short resume of what i do to help owners with MB cars. I have compiled information sheets in various stages of escalation to support owners with Rotten corroded rear subframes to get them replaced FOC by MB - we have had 746 replaced FOC since i started helping owners over 5 years ago. I have also put together an Information Pack for owners to escalate their claim to The Motor Ombudsman Service (TMO) our claims are being accepted and investigated. I also support owners to claim for Bodywork Corrosion - front wings and other bodywork, including rotten rear quarter panels etc. also up to the stage of TMO claims. I have also put Information Packs together to support owners of RED models with blistering, peeling lacquer/paint, and have been successful getting owners Full bare-metal resprays FOC. I have also put together information packs for owners of early, 2011-2013, R172 models with distorted, delaminated, leaking polycarbonate roof panels trying to force MB to repair or replace them FOC. should any of the owners on this Forum require my help and/or advice regarding any of the above issues, please contact me my email address is; dave@castellni.co.uk; I look forward to speaking to Affected Owners, Speak to you all Soon Best regards :) Dave Evans UK

Hi @daveevans uk

Welcome to SLK World!

Great to have you here. If you haven’t already, take a moment to look over our community rules - they’ll help you get the most out of the forum and keep everything running smoothly.

And of course, if you ever have questions or need a hand, any of the mods are always happy to help.
Hi Robbie, I have posted a Resume of what I do with and for other MB Owners Forum with regard to support for owners challenging MB with regard to Rear Subframe corrosion and FOC replacement of them, over the past 5 years, also with regard to the FOC replacement of corroded body panels that have corroded - especially front wings, I support owners of RED models with regard to paint/lacquer blistering and peeling and have had some success in getting owners FOC full bare-metal resprays, and finally I have supported owners with early R172 models with polycarbonate roofs that have distorted, delaminated, or allow water ingress to challenge MB and get the roof panels replaced - I work with a number of other MB Forum where can be found what are currently 3 monthly reports from 'Subframe Corner' which I used to post monthly but with the current issues with MB CS UK and their disjointed approach to information being sent out to dealerships across the UK and Europe I have had to go to only doing the Reports every 3 months atm, I am aware that it is probable that mentioning other groups is not appropriate - but I have just posted my lates Report (31/07/2026) on BenzWorld should you wish to read it, I can also post the report on this site should you wish it runs to around 8 pages of A4 and covers most of the affected models SLK, C&E-Class, A series etc. I have posted my email address on my previous post so that owners can contact me directly with their problems rather than rely on me reading their issue(s) on the site. I work with owners around the world and worked with Law Firms and the NHTSA in the USA and Canada to provide information and data to force MB USA and MB Canada to issue the Extended Warranty Notice (EWN) forcing MB to replace subframes FOC rather than Dealerships telling owners over vehicles up to 2016 models when their subframes failed, to sell their cars for scrap as it wasn't cost effective to replace the subframes. as the Mobilo-Life 30 Year Anti-perforation Warranty does not apply outside the EU and UK. I hope to be able to help owners around the world who are members of this Forum. Incidentally, I make no charge whatsoever for the support I offer, so no reason for owners not to contact me - I hope this is helpful information and that I can provide help and support to this group too - Speak to you soon :) Dave Evans (dave@castellni.co.uk;)

No Problem Rob, we are all busy - I am working with my son atm building a Thunder Saloon from my old 3 door Whaletail Sierra's there are times I feel my age getting under the damn thing to fit over-sills to mate up with the wide body-kit LOL. I still do what i can to help our MB Owners not just SLK owners but most of the original identified models and some of the later models that re not on the original MB List. I will speak to you soon and if anyone wants help with the issues I have listed, please contact me via my email. and if they let me know that they have come through this Group, that will be helpful as where owners contact me from is some of the information I do record, Speak to you all soon :) Dave

Hi Leonardo. I worked with 4 Law Firms and the NHTSA in the USA and also with owners and Legals in Canada a couple of years ago, and supplied Information and data to them all to use to force MB to issue the Extended Warranty Notice in the USA an Canada to enable owners to be able to claim for the replacement of their subframes to be replaced FOC, irrespective of mileage or service history, as the Mobilo-Life Warranty is not available anywhere except the EU and the UK - owners over the pond were being told that they should scrap their cars - some as new as 2016 models - as it wasn't cost effective to replace the subframes - I wasn't having that so I contacted the Law firms and the NHTSA who forced MB USA and MB Canada to issue the EWN's in both countries - much to the annoyance of MB Germany. I have been helping owners around the world for over 5 years now with varying degrees of success. the work keeps my brain active and me busy in my retirement LOL, there shouldn't be any issues in Canada, but, in the US MB have started being awkward but, as we have copies of the EWN's they struggle to wriggle out of their responsibilities :) and I still help US owners who fall foul of MB and send them draft emails to personalise and send off to the CEO of MB Cars AG in Germany :) I am always here to help owners around then world :) Dave Evans

Hi Rik In Tas, I have been working with some owners in Australia and New Zealand who are having issues with Red paint blistering and peeling on their Mercedes models, I am working to get them a FOC full bare-metal respray. Although subframe corrosion isn't such an issue over there as it is over here but, rear subframes are/can still be a corrosion issue with the box-sections of the rear subframe 'sweating' and causing condensation inside and rotting the subframe from the inside - out. thanks for your welcome :) Dave

Hello Dave,
Glad that you made it to here.
Simply put Dave Evans is a Guru, your name is whispered by those who know and your tenacity on the subframe issue is simply LEGEND!
I for one have benefited from your guidance and have had a replacement subframe from MB. I am on the Benz forum as well.
I must also admit that my stock answer about the issue is "contact Dave Evans".
Many thanks from me personally!

Hi Barrys773, Over in the USA you should be able to get your rear subframe replaced FOC, as I worked with 4 US Law Firms and the NHTSA to force MB USA and MB Canada to issue an Extended Warranty Notice (EWN), a couple of years ago. Owners in the US and Canada should be able to get their subframes replaced FOC as long as their car is less than 20 years old. Up until the EWN owners were being told to scrap their cars as it wasn't cost effective to replaced the subframe. The Mobilo-Life 30-year Anti-perforation Warranty, that we use, only applies in the UK and Europe. If you or any other US or Canadian owners want help with a subframe claim, if MB or the Dealership in the USA or MB Canada are awkward, please contact me, I am here to help - thanks for the welcome :) Dave Evans

@daveevans uk
I don’t normally ask questions in welcome threads, but I have a question for those of us in the UK.

Does the mobilo warranty stick with the car, or is it something that we need to chase/register as new owners?

Thanks,

Myk

Hi Myk, The Warranty was launched in October 1998 and covers any MB car registered after the 24 October 1998, as with the majority of Warranties, the Warranty should follow the CAR - how many owners keep a car for 30 years? as you would guess, MB would love to restrict it to the original owner, but the Warranty restrictions, were successfully challenged in the UK County Court, back in July 2013 by an owner, of course MB say that they don't have any records of the case - mind you, after trying to get the case throw out at the beginning, MB took no further part in the proceeding's. (head in the sand attitude). I have successfully challenged MB about this, with the FOC replacement of the front wings on my R171, when I raised the information of the 2013 court case, something that CS UK did say in an email was, that 'UK County Court Judgements do not apply to them' an interesting statement! I had my corroded front wings replaced, FOC in November 2025. MB also say the Subframes are not covered, but the report I have of the Launch states that, 'all bodywork and underfloor structures were covered by the Warranty' - there are only 2 underfloor structures, the Front and Rear Subframes!' I hope that this answers your question if I can help further just contact me, I am always here to help :) Dave Evans

Hi Folks, this information is for owners who are in the process of going down the TMO Route with their Subframe Claim only.
I have had information regarding an email on the replacement of SLK subframes. The wording of this email is slightly different to the normal wording and may help owners with their TMO claims.
I am unable to send this out atm, this message is just to inform owners going down this Route, that it will be available very soon.
If you are an owner going down that Route, will you please contact me to remind me of your email rather than me having to go through the emails or the contact lists, and I will send a copy over to them as soon as it is expedient for me to do so. you can add this as Additional Information. Speak to you soon 😊 Dave Evans

Hi Folks, just a quick update. This is about changes to MB’s email addresses
They seen to have changed their email addresses again,
I had an email from an owner informing me that the CS UK email address has change to:
Customerservice.uk@cac.mercedes-benz.com
I have also received an email today from an owner who emailed CS UK and received their reply from: amg.gbr@cac.mercedes-benz.com so I am going to suggest that, for the time being, that owners contacting CS UK should use the original email: cs.uk@cac.mercedes-benz.com and Customerservice.uk@cac.mercedes-benz,com just to ensure that their emails go through.
I will contact my MB Manager Contacts and try and get some clarification on the actual position with the email addresses. I will as always, keep you updated as I obtain information 😊 Dave
