It was a late summer day in 2022, my friend (the kind who likes to visit me so he can chauffeur me around in the SLK) drove us to go get some take out Chinese food. On Peachtree Street in Buckhead we stopped at an intersection at a red light. Next to us in the right lane was a silver BMW Z3. We both had our tops down. The driver of the BMW Z3 wore a ball cap and was just enjoying his relaxing day in the sun...too much enjoyment for me.
I looked at my friend, he looked at me, my finger hit the C/S button and put my SLK into S mode. We burned rubber and the tachometer revved as we sped away from SLK's oldest competitor and over took him. Everything was legal and we never broke the 35 mph speed limit. I confirmed with Zone 2 police officers that you cannot be charged acceleration. We had at the least three car lengths between us and the BMW after overtaking him into the right lane.
Another B'mer bites the dust.
To the other driver's credit he did try to increase his speed but we left him in the dust as we turned right onto West Wesley...
