So why is your car 'badged' AMG if it is not?

To save us time answering this question over and over, here is the tale...

The AMG Line adds cosmetic differences designed to add to the overall look and feel of the car, while an AMG model features a high performance engine designed with driving performance in mind.

SLK Hand Built AMGS are the SLK 32 AMG and the SLK 55 AMG. The SLC 43 AMG is not hand built but production line built.
AMG is designated by 2 numbers ..SLK 32, SLK 55, SLC 43.

If your SLK has an AMG Badge but is not an AMG as above, you either have the optional body kit which usually includes
AMG style wheels, AMG style body panels and the badge.

AMG sport is an aesthetic package.

The numbers do not always indicate engine size accurately.

or you see a 'poser'....see the poser thread for that

Hi there, my wife liked my old 2001 silk 230 so much when she borrowed it for a few weeks when her old car went bang that she went and bought an A200 AMG “line”. It hasn’t got the engine but has the wheels, styling kit and badges etc. I would have preferred it the other way round - forget the styling and give me the engine.
