The SLK was a little crooked on the boot lid. Makes me wonder about the quality of any modifications.

In the UK, the AMG badge is the same as having and M Sport on a BM or S Line on an Audi. If it has the AMG trim (or M-Sport / S-Line) it gets the badge.

I suppose if this one had "230AMG" as one badge, that might be different. Mine has the AMG badge on the right side of the boot/trunk, but it has full AMG kit... is that wrong?

If I'm going to be a poser, I want to make sure I'm at least doing it right!

True... which made me write this stickied thread :D

There is a difference between MB putting AMG bits on a car and a true POSER doing the same when the car does NOT have the required parts or those parts were paid for to MB

I need clarification Mr Banks.
Are you saying that the owners of AMG Line cars are able to add additional AMG insignia if they so wish?
But not if the car never left the factory with any kind of AMG moniker on the V5 log book (pink slip) etc?

If so, I genuinely can't understand why you would let any of that bother you in the first place mate? 🤔

if the datacard, as an example, states it has the optional body kit which usually includes
AMG style wheels, AMG style body panels and the badge, it would already have those things on the SLK
then it has the blessings of MB cause they collected $ for the bling

all others, without the datacard stating such, or a bonafide SLK AMG, 32, 55 or 43
any other MB, not an AMG like SL AMG or CLK AMG or any brand like a camaro is a poser...

so yes, look at my AMG bling
grill AMG, glove box AMG etc... I have an AMG
but if one does not

POSER

Ok Mate,

But I still genuinely can't fathom why it bothers you? 🤔
If someone wants to stick a Ferrari badge on a Fiat. It doesn't make it a Ferrari.
But I still wouldn't be bothered by it.

Your AMG is from an era when the engines were hand built. That's kinda cool & carries a fair bit of kudos. But modern versions of your car like an SLC43 AMG are undoubtedly better. Even though their engines aren't hand built.

Is an Aston Martin DB5 better than a DB11? Other than the value of a DB5?

It does not bother me.
If they want to claim they are driving something that they do not possess, they will lose at the finish line
It is one of the sections I helped create back in 2006.
Now back to the discussion of this slk 230...
