Earlier today, got back to my car (not in the SLC - sorry) and found a very neat and tidy Silver R171 parked right behind me. Unattended unfortunately but I did take the opportunity to leave a card tucked into the drivers door. Anyone on here?

Certainly good weather for convertibles in the UK at the moment, lots seem to have emerged to enjoy the sun and warmth!

Apparently this is the reason convertible sales are higher in Northern Europe than Southern Europe - if the sun beats down incessantly it's preferable to have a roof over your head, windows up and climate control running.

This thread is enjoyable but has drifted a long way off topic!

always heard that about your wet weather. Suppose its got advantages. Was just in Philadelphia for wedding. The intensely hot humid air was overpowering. I do all sorts of outdoors work myself on my land. Grass trimming, pruning, tree cutting/trimming, picking fruit. Couldn’t even think of doing that where it’s hot as hell, even in the evening. Car work would be terrible except in garage with ac!
Reminded me fast as to a big reason why we moved to California 51 years ago plus the freezing cold icy winters. Big reason why California cars are worth a premium...

We joke about the rain but in truth it is a varied climate.
I take that over humid, or months of not driving due to snow and ice.

In 10 years of SLK ownership I can count on one hand the days where weather prevented use.
Of course, there are days where one might choose not to go out, but few where we cannot should we choose to.

My pals who still live in the big east coast cities, especially NYC area talk nostalgically of owning a sports car. The crime, terrible weather, lack of parking, traffic, poor streets all combine to making it very very expensive to own a low to the ground stiff suspension car and especially to keeping its beauty.
I remember needing to use an early plastic metal compound to patch the sump of my 190sl way back in 1973 and it was higher off the ground then an SLK.
