(See post 10) Newbie needs DAS/HHT help

Finally have a new to me SDS system with C4 multiplexer and Xentry 3/2023. I need help! After a few hiccups I got the system up and running. Through Xentry I selected my car R170. Xentry activated DAS and I successfully performed a quick test. I started to go through the modules and all was fine until DAS used HHT to access a module. HHT was in German. I could not figure out how to change it to English. Can anyone give me step by step directions on how to change this. I am not a computer (especially Windows) genius, so keep it simple.

I would suggest @i860 may be able to help, since I don't mess with the actual SDS s/w I just use it on MB vehicles.

What I can say is, one of my MB's currently has a German Tuned ECU, was given to me by my AMG buddies who work at Affalterbach ;)
That one outputs info to DAS in German, IDK why, but since it is a very aggresive Tune and the Car drives superbly and hasn't gone BANG yet, I have no need to delve ;)

So depending which Module the OP is talking of, it may actually be the Module has been replaced by one from a German Car ............. ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

On the other hand I may be talking gibberish, but yeah, my S Class Motor ECU deffo spits out German when using SDS DAS, and gazillions of other cars I've got intimate with don't ;)

While I won't say (don't know) if this particular German text (you are finding in HHT) may or may not be "correctable" to English (as I don't recall having German text when using HHT).... you will likely ALWAYS have German text to contend with (if you work in developer mode). Something that I have found that helps me (a ton) is installing "Google translate" on my phone and using the camera feature to convert text (live). It works very well for me (translates all but the most technical terms). My phone is an Android, so your experience may be different if you use apple.

Hope that helps,
Chris

Yes, the issue with Google translate is it can't work out a lot of the techie stuff, especially so with the MB Acronyms, but the trick is look at the English Codings in DAS first, screenshot them and print, then when you get to developer versions in German the numbers in the left margin are still all the same so you just look for that number in the left on the printed English version ..........

Pic is worth a thosand words etc etc yak yak yak ..........

Dave is right, a picture is worth a thousand words. DAS is English and the modules that get read by DAS (ME,TCU, etc.) everything is fine. As you can see in the pic all the modules get read and are displayed in English. When I go to see the faults on some modules, HHT is automatically selected and when it opens everything is in German. Not just the codes, but the whole HHT is in German. I think there should be a way to change languages or I need a different HHT. Just wondering if anybody knows how to change it.

My question is is it just the PSE that does that, or is it all the HHT Modules ?

f.e. ATA, VR, CCM, RFL poss ICM and a few more that I can't remember this early in the morning ;)

My point being if it is just PSE, since PSE's often go bad it could be that in the past the PSE has been replaced with a used one bought from Germany and maybe just not coded correctly ????????????
Where did you get the s/w, it's likely Chinese if it's actually the s/w, which is why I never advise buying Chinese s/w

Other than that I'd say you need @i860 he will be the man who knows what the issue is ;)

Then it is most likely the s/w you have, because none of my 4 different SDS machines and 3 different Multiplexers do it, and AFAIK many others here on SLK world don't have that issue with their machines either.
