New Bosch Intercooler Pump

Hey all! Today I installed the upgraded Bosch IC pump. It was relatively easy and what I found as the biggest bit&h was the wheel well cover that needed to be completely removed to have good access to the IC pump. So many stupid little nuts to remove...but it's done.
I noticed that on the original pump, there was this 2" curved rubber hose coming out the back of the pump; I figured maybe a weeping port or something. The newer Bosch pump does not have this little rubber hose, just a metal pin about 1" in its place. Was I supposed to put it on the new pump?
Anyone know why the difference in design? Just curious...

I too replaced my pump. Just looked at the old one. It has a projecting tube where the pin is on the new pump. I was able to stick a piece of wire far down into the pump through that tube. I don't remember if there was a rubber hose on it or not. If so I evidently didn't save it. I don't know the function of the tube. If the pin is solid on the new pump there would seem to be no need to attach a rubber hose. Sorry that I don't remember more...
