Last week I spent a glorious, top-down day driving on the scenic Wisconsin side of the Mississippi to Frontenac State Park near Redwing, Minnesota, for my first real summertime photo shoot of the car. The road was in some areas amazingly smooth, delivering a real "Magic Carpet" effect, and the gentle hills and sweeping curves really let the SLK shine!
I began shooting shortly before sunset, and the way that the reflections of the colorful twilight sky showed off the R171's delicious curves was mesmerizing. I chose to shoot these with a 10mm Voigtlander Hyper-wide lens for an almost surreal, impressionistic effect which I think works beautifully in portraying the the car's subtly curvaceous personality.
Here's a slideshow which I put together of some of my favorite selections.
For all of us infatuated with the lovely styling of the incredible SLK!
Hint: For best appearance, please be sure that the video display quality is set to at least 1080p for the embedded video, or 2160p if viewing full screen, on a desktop. Phones will take care of themselves.
