With no big SLK Road Trips on the radar this year, due to a house renovation...

Doing a mini 4 day Road Trip, with a few added SLK side diversions - As you do...!!

Day 1:
Traversed Birmingham traffic, with I admit the roof up due to showers, but on the plus side was seeing just under 40mpg with the improved aerodynamics..!! (Not that that's why You buy a AMG...!! :ROFLMAO:)

Peeling off the M6, got the roof down and soon after "Leek" the nice Peak District country side begins:

Did a bit of a interesting route, through "The Peaks District" including Bakewell (Busy) and checked out "Monsal Head" - The viaduct was part of the London to Manchester railway line, before it was closed in 1968 - Now an almost flat cycle trail, with tunnels..!!

But with time marching on, snuk under Sheffield, and onto the flats lands of Lincolnshire - As depicted here with long straight roads, with drainage ditches along side them...

Once checked into My digs near "Goole", had a nice evening drive over the border into Yorkshire, to meet up with @MartinatMersea for a bite to eat (y)

The 40min top down drive back to My digs in the dark was just sweet, with flat roads and sweeping bends...

Day 2

An early start, driving some nice roads to Elvington - But this modified "Melbourne" sign brought a smile:
(Guessing two seater Roadster, are less welcome..)

Arriving at the Supercar event at Elvington Airfield, Myself and Martin were part of the display cars:
(The Police Car was part of part of the display stands - Not following the fast car in to ticket them..!!)

They also had posher Supercar display cars - This one looked great in the sunshine:

At least the older gentle who owned this Lamborghini (The one in shorts, with back to me) has done Euro Road Trips in it, but otherwise just poodles around in it...

So back in the 1950's the United States Air Force kindly extended the Run Way to 1.9 miles (y)
This allowed the main reason for the event, which was cars paying £££ to do speed run down the run way, being clocked at 1 and 1.25 miles.

With lesser cars like an AMG GT being clocked at 171mph at the 1.25 mark. Two McLaren's just managed to top the 200mph barrier...

Having looked and watched, Me and Martin bailed the event early and head off on some nice South Yorkshire roads to "Bridlington". Having found @frogfoot recommended Fish & Chip shop and walked around to the North Promenade to enjoy the sea view, minus the sea gulls:

Leaving a busy "Bridlington" headed a tad South to get some Golden Hours pictures:

And just sit and enjoy the sunshine in SLK comfort:

One bonus picture, what do people think of My new AMG - EV conversion?

Though finding the TomTom routing a bit restrictive.... :ROFLMAO:

Day 3

Another sunny start in "Reedness", so had a wonder to the end of the small holding property that I was staying at, to check out the River Ouse, that allows shipping to get to the inland port at "Goole"

Leaving the village, spotted this interesting style of house..!!

Some nice quite roads, as I started heading South towards "Gainsborough"

Arriving at the main reason for this 4 day trip, North of the "Watford Gap"

...which was an afternoon one to one IAM Training season at "Blyton Park"

Great little circuit being dead flat, some nice cars present, but quite restrictive over taking...

Of course Martin's V8 sounded great out on the circuit - Interestingly We both put I roofs down on the last session out and I could really tell the improved handling with the roofs weight moved back and lower:

Had 7 x 10 to 15min sessions out on the Track, with 90mph possible on the back straight, though the cooling system wasn't fazed, the fuel gauge dropped a tad during this afternoon visit.....!!

So all in all, another fine SLK day out (y)

Day 4

Departing Lincolnshire, did the not so nice bit under Sheffield, to do the return trip again via "The Peak District" - With a brief stop in a busy "Castleton" before driving up the impressive "Winnats Pass" At the top is "Mam Tor"
Sky Cloud Wheel Car Mountain

Looks stable from this side, so carried on around to the other side, which has a great view over the Edale Valley:

This use to be a through road to "Edale", but due to constant land slippage every year is now a dead end, so checked out on foot how the old road was getting on (...and we complain about the state of the roads else where in the UK..!!)
Sky Cloud Mountain Bedrock Slope

Next stop: "Snake Pass" - Be kind of rude not to while in the area..!!

Going down the other side is just as scenic:

So this was lunch stop, by Derwent Reservoir:

...when this turned up - Along with a bit of rain:

Chatting to its owner: It's a 38 year old Lomax, based on a Citroen 2CV chassis.... Though is lowered and front roll bar to give better handling - Max speed of 85mph....!!

Departing, the bridge over "Ladybower Reservoir"

Late one back, with just under 700 additional miles driven in 4 days (y)
