Car SLK 200 R171
Head Unit Extrons IQP94M350P

All components purchased from Xtrons for compatibility

Problem - the unit is not powering up.

The unit came with a quadlock hardness to plug into the car's own quadlock connector. Extrons advised purchasing another harness PWRC. Note - you can't use both at the same time.

I have tried both harnesses individually.

I have a CAN and a FOBB01 decoder that are looped into the harness of choice. And the appropriate connections are made - yellow for yeloow / black for black

The FOBB01 decoder has no ACC (red) wire and this maybe the issue.
The decoder and only has yellow (battery) and black (ground).

Extrons instructions do not mention ACC. They said just connect the yellow and black wires.

I suspect I need to connect the ACC wire to a power source that won't drain the battery.

If anyone has had any experience installing the above I would appreciate some pointers.

Hey @Hafren, I saw you're having trouble getting your new Xtrons head unit to power up. It's definitely frustrating when the decoder is missing that ACC wire you're expecting. Have you had a chance to test any of the wires with a multimeter to see what's getting power and when? Adding a few more details about your testing might help someone who's done a similar install give you some pointers.

Hi Hafren,
I installed that same Xtrons in my facelift (last model) SLK280 11-2008.
My SLK has the most simple sound system, so I didn't need much cable stuf.
For me, it was nearly plug and play... everything works as it should (I think).
Ask your question at the Xtrons facebook site:
There you can get real good help.

I'm not sure what you need but I used one of these ISO cables.
I also connected the CANBUS to the heater CANBUS wires.

Your xtrons HU may require ACC to tell it to turn on. ie BAT+, ACC and GND. I would not only provide ACC+ to actually power the HU as when you shut off the ignition the HU gets not warning and the operating system likley crashes - this is not good for longevity.

My (not xtrons) HU needed CanBus to tell it to turn on.

My adventures are covered here:

Edit: if the FOBB01 device is an optical to audio decoder to drive the stock amp . . . then yes it should only have BAT+ and GND powering. You can try ACC and GND but may notice sometimes on ignition on that you get no audio as the decoder has missed it's boot up time slot (not always listening like it does with BAT+ power).
