Sacramento Valley SLK Enthusiasts: Saturday January 21st 9:00am California Raptor Center Davis.
MEET: We will meet at 9:00 AM at La Bou Bakery & Café at 849 Jefferson Blvd., West Sacramento, CA., 95691.
DEPART: We will depart at 9:30 AM and drive to the California Raptor Center 1340 Equine Lane, Davis, CA. The Tour cost is approximately $10.00 please have cash & give to Don at the meet.
The California Raptor Center is an educational and research facility dedicated to the rehabilitation of injured and orphaned birds of prey (raptors). The Center is affiliated with UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine which supports the medical needs of these special birds. The Center takes in 300-350 sick, injured, and orphaned raptors each year, successfully returning about 60% to the wild.
We are still trying to arrange a docent led tour of the Center’s indoor Museum & tour of the birds which will be outdoors in some type of Aviary area. The outdoor tour is a quiet zone, whispering is allowed. We don’t want to make the bird’s nervous or upset them. The Center may have several Ambassador birds who can’t be released due to injuries.
