Ok, so it’s not a ‘real’ AMG. But it is an amg line, and it is a factory turbo. And…. It’s my car 🙂.
Apart from the alloy wheels and the floor mats, both which it came with, it doesn’t actually say AMG anywhere else.
Flame away……… 🫣

Having owned 2 real AMG’s in the past, it used to irk me to see the AMG letters on a clearly non AMG cars. Maybe I have mellowed ?. But to go the other way, do you paint out the AMG stamped into the wheels, replace the floor mats, and cross out the AMG printed on the V5c ownership document?
Perhaps it’s Mercedes fault for diluting the AMG brand?

Hahaha. Now that would be extreme. I mean, if a purist believes that AMG stamped wheels is crossing the line, they have bigger issues. :)
I'd look at a stamped wheel or suspension components and what-not as an "AMG spec'd part". The car is not claiming to be an AMG, just that it has parts from/for an AMG car or AMG line car that the buyer paid for in an AMG package of sorts. Now, if that buyer thinks they now have a true AMG, well, gentle education usually works. If they resist, then go on with your day. You know what's what and that person will soon learn the deal.
Most say real AMG died in the early 2000's; some even say earlier....whatever...

Last line exactly.

By leading folks into thinking they were getting AMGs for less than the money but getting a premium over stock.

All the big brands have done the same.

Perhaps they saw folks mods and figured they’d tap into it.

As long as folk understand what they are getting.

We do have a member with an AMG Jeep.
They did it for a laugh but got told by some that they didn’t know that Jeep had AMG models.

Well as I can’t live with the embarrassment, I’ve found a badge that matches my car documentation on good old eBay. I could swap what is on now for these? Or maybe I’ll just take them all off, and go stealth 🥷
My badge fetish must come from being a former boyscout, soldier, pilot etc…..🤪

For me, it’s a large who cares. As WC Fields once said “A Sucker is Born Every Day”. Plenty of folks show that by buying an SLK in terrible condition and then end up here without a clue.
280’s, 350’s 55’s AMG, 170’s 171’s 172’s or otherwise.
The addition of badges of any type is just another cause for buyer beware.
Look at Ferrari, their famous rearing horse badge costs something like an additional $8,000 - $10,000 last I heard 20 years go! Can you believe that? When I first heard that, I had to check, couldn’t believe people were that stupidly wealthy!
Plus you get no extra performance for it!

And some Dino206 and 246 owners pay the money to put a Ferrari badge on a car that was never a Ferrari 😂
