It’s story time folks!!
‘Twas a cold but dry evening, I decide it’s the perfect time to chuck the roof down and cruise home, hearing the v6 noises bounce off the houses back to me or being carried off into the night, a familiar sight came racing up behind me, another slk, a car friend, or so I thought. The sack of potato’s that is behind the wheel decides he’s going to over take, and cuts me off forcing me to slam on, idiot . He speeds up slows down, speeds up slow down. Oh, he wants to race! I Look to the boot ( or trunk for everyone across the pond) and I see an amg badge, I see a slk 55 badge. ( I’ve played with a few 55’s, all have devoured me, still fun to play and try and keep up ) it has all the kit the 55 would have, only to realise there’s something missing… where is the grumble of the beautiful v8. He puts his foot down, I put my foot down, hmmm… why isn’t he gapping me? I start thinking somethings not quite right here, I’m only hearing 1 v6, and not much else.. So we end up on a mountain road and I decide to go for the overtake, fly by and keep on gapping him, he’s not keeping up. So I slow down, allow him to catch up, then floor it again, and again, he’s huffing and puffing but not keeping up. Eventually pulled over, turned my engine off just to try and hear him pass me… safe to say he was rocking the supercharged 1.8 which definitely took the fun out of beating him. He wasn’t happy either, with hand gestures and swearing as he was passing. Yeah, this riled me up, so I did it again, and again… and tried to it one last time but he got wise and pulled over further up the road, and by the way, all this fun took me about 20-30 minutes off course, a half hour journey took nearly two hours. Moral of the story is, don’t make you car look like something it’s not, then get salty when you’re beaten by something the real deal car would ruin. You may have the badges and the body kit, something else you also have? A lot of room in under the bonnet  :p

In 2009 I was in a 2009 CTS-V following my son who was driving our 1983 600HP 600lb trq (dyno'd at crank) supercharged Chevy powered Porsche 928 (our father son project car) on the highway. We had a total of maybe $20K invested in this otherwise stock car with a 3 speed auto box. Up pulls a brand new new turbo 911 GT3, wing and all, and they paralleled each other both slowing down to about 30MH before they punched it. Not sure how fast they were going when they slowed down but that old 928 did not give an inch to that surely over $200K new 911. Would have been a good thing to video if I thought of it, but was last minute unplanned and sudden. Sadly we lost the CTS-V and 928 at the recession.

It’s my first car if it’s kind, had an ecosport, focus, currently got a fiesta, and main thing I noticed was people started driving like idiots around me trying to get reactions, normally in clapped out corsas or slammed civics that don’t carry the type r name, normally I little sprint sorts it out and I’m on my way, first time I’d been cut up like that in it though
