Hi new to car high psi.pump replaced goes to limp mode when rpms hit 7000rpm. ck eng. light on code p0002 could rev limiter cause this problem?

@donald kennedy If you’re hitting 7000 rpm, it strongly suggests the engine’s been remapped and the factory 6200 rpm limit has been lifted. The revised map may be demanding more fuel than even a new HPFP can deliver, or the system is simply struggling to operate 13% beyond the original MB limit
My only experience is 170 & 171.
For R171, selecting fully (M)anual mode, the rev limiter is not operational and red line can be exceeded. It will also stay in selected gear no matter what you do.
Going into manual mode whilst in C or S mode (using paddles) then rev limiter is still in situ and cannot be exceeded.
Plus, the auto box still works if you slow down, or increase speed up until the gear you chose.
Not sure of auto nor manual for 172.
As Mike says, I believe all 250 engines to be R172, regardless of fuel (US only gets petrol, but other countries have petrol and diesel option).
