It's that time of year to pay special attention to your weather seals.

I've not found anything that even comes close to Gummi Pflege for protecting them

Top pics R170, bottom pdf R171 but both models have similar if not exact lube points

DO NOT USE WD-40!!! IT IS A SOLVENT. NOT A LUBRICANT
*

CAUTION: Whether opening or closing the roof to lubricate, ensure when done, that you let the roof continue in whatever direction it was moving when you started to finish its cycle.

WD-40 will stop squeaks and minor rust on things like house door hinges for a short time, but it mainly disperses water and doesn't last as a lube.
(I use it on undercarriage parts after pressure washing road dirt off at the end of the summer driving season. It leaves a nice shine on those parts and slows any rust.)

White lithium grease works well for metal joints or screws but I dislike the visible white mess left after it is sprayed on.

I have used Suzuki motorcycle chain lube spray which penetrates and clings to any joints, and is also compatible with the rubber O-rings in the the hi-end chains.
(my chains lasted about 20,000 miles of frequent spirited accelerations)
Less visible black lube, but still needs attention when used. I place a paper towel behind or bellow the joint to be sprayed and use very light pressure on the can, and than clean up any over spray or drip.
This chain lube lasts a very long time, but if it is used anywhere near where one would brush against it, don't apply.

Di-electric silicone grease comes in second for me on rubber and metal parts, is clear, and has not left any stains on clothes.
Gummy, being very thin, is best for parts that may contact clothes, hands or glass, but needs re-application often.

Silicone spray should not be sprayer on parts that may require future paint work, as it is very difficult to remove and causes problems with paint adhesion.
Spray it into a small cloth or other applicator and apply to seals carefully.

So, this all sounds very OCD, but, I have the time, like paying attention to detail, and enjoy the results.

Or Krytox GPL205, my rubber lubricant of choice. I treated my old R172, traded it for another 23 months ago, and never got around to applying it to the new ride. Oh, what a difference. Kicking my self for waiting. Procrastinating is easy, don’t be a dope like me, JUST DO IT.

Productive morning spent applying Gummi Pflege to all the roof, window, door and boot seals - actually quite cathartic - will give everything another coat in a couple of weeks as I do not think the previous owner had done it - seals looked very dry, but no visible cracks.

Next weekend I'll use Lithium grease on hinges and roof pivot points.

Appreciated the photos on earlier posts as guidance.

Thanks all.

Has anyone tried the WD40 Silicone Spray?

No luck with the highly recommended brands here in this thread as they aren't available here in the Philippines.

Does the Liqui Molly Gummi Pflege contain petroleum distillate? From what I've read and understood so far, the product shouldn't have it.

Thank you.
