The car performed flawlessly over the 3600 miles of the road trip minus the airbag snafu before the trip started. It was great fun seeing new places and meeting up with old friends along the way.

These are some great cars aren't they. Thank you for this thread, I enjoyed the hell out of it, it felt like I took that trip with you. I second the comment about the pizza!

Sorry I'm so late to this thread but been away from the forum for a few months. Firstly, congratulations on your graduation. Both my parents are graduates of Cal Berkeley. I applied there but just didn't have the right stuff. But, then I got a letter from UCI saying that they would take me. I went to Chico State instead :) !

What a wonderful way to see the country. I just got back from a similar adventure (albeit in a rental car) where I drove through Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and finally Iowa. It started on the Historic Route 66 in Tulsa! I really enjoyed seeing the "corn belt". Really nice people all along the way.

I'm not sure if I could take the seats in my SLK for a cross country road trip but it sure would be fun to try.
