Edit for @AG Jeff
This should be the first post for the
'Who got their top down in the sun today?' thread.

Just add to this thread
if you got your top down or drove your SLK today!

The irony of driving around with the roof off and the aircon on is still making my brain hurt, but I don’t mind one bit. Mabel is having such a nice time in the fresh air at the moment. Today we dropped off to Stockbridge then fell into time and tide for a spot of lunch. The ability to find nice shady spots and just enjoy the car is sublime at the moment. Plus this heat the stop start works perfectly. Doesn’t work when it’s cold, she likes the heat and she’s so much more perky. Off to Hamble tomorrow there’s a nice pub by the river down there. 😊

We all like the heat.

Do you aim ac to footwell and stick on recirc?

Wish I was smart enough to retrofit the electrics from the Mondeo into the 171.

Heated and cooled function. No idea how it did that, but it worked.

Unlocking the secrets to lessening body mass on the 55.

After detailed inspection I found a further piece of Sideskirt in need of removal.
It would have torn off eventually.

Who knew that garden shears were good for trimming bodywork (plastics).

Taped up the hole and took a mixed route test drive. Pretty good for now.

Sadly, a favourite route, covering several miles, had more trenches than the Somme & a lights display to rival Blackpool.

Mileage was pure coincidence.

Sooo good.
Four working tyres and now a working AC - Silkie and I went for a little drive, just because we can. Sun on my head and cold tootsies. Just what's needed.
I'd better clean her properly now and get all the dust off her before goin out properly.

Noooo!
Had to run 55 engine for a few minutes whilst topping ac.

Smoke from nearside below spark plug position.

Going to be valve seals methinks.
Think this is third time (known 55 occurrence).
Another job to add to the growing list, plus bodywork.

Anybody know an unguarded stage coach route?

Breakfast by the sea for us this morning. Woke early, top down and away!

Had to fight for a car park space though :ROFLMAO:.

Decided to tour leafy (if tinder dray) Cheshire and Welsh lanes.

I think we are declaring war judging by the high number of trenches being dug.

Traffic heavy.

Got caught up behind a lot of cyclists near Cholomondey Castle.
Bet you expect a moan as I was in narrow lanes.
NOPE.
Tailenders were easy as they were stretched out.
Then I found the peloton.
After a few minutes of tailing they fell into single file and waved traffic through.
My compliments to them.

Quick stop at Broxton for bacon and egg bap, washed down with a large coffee.
Place was full of workers from all the roadworks.

Then a run into Farndon and the back route into Chester to play with the tourists.
Strangely, they were keen to let me out of the side turnings.

Gripe of the day, well, every day really.

Those doing much less than the speed limit, who suddenly pick up speed when you pass and try (emphasis on ‘try) to catch up.
Why?
I’m out of your way, doing legal speeds, overtaking with safety in mind ( not aggressively) & my car corners without slowing down (mostly).
What on earth is going through your peanut mind.
Daft

SImilar to here: you wait and wait and...time for "pedal to the metal".

THEN they realize they were going too slow so sit on your butt till you boot it again and leave them in the dust.

THEN they slow back down because they were 1 mph over the limit.

Seriously, I've been behind dummies who put their brakes on when they hit 51 kph.

Up early this morning to take the car into the local MB dealer for a 4-yearly 'B' service with much trepidation...

But all fine for my little 105400 mile SLK32 AMG, which is just coming up to its 21st year of my ownership. Road springs showing some surface corrosion, but no need to replace them.

Best of all was the price - a generously discounted £358.37!
