Edit for @AG Jeff
This should be the first post for the
'Who got their top down in the sun today?' thread.

Just add to this thread
if you got your top down or drove your SLK today!

Well, today I celebrated 21 years of SLK32 AMG ownership!
!!Congrats!!

…..with the aircon running - engine load, I guess?
I am not (yet) overly familiar with these particular (SLK) engines, although I did own/work on an E320 for a few years. I think there should be a secondary fan engaging by default when you run your ac. Is yous functioning as it should?

Well, I poured a few more USD into the car, I'd managed to rip the front bumper, so.....I thought I'd be clever and buy a fiberglass AMG replacement, the body shop I took it to for that and to touch up the paint job said..."it's a piece of garbage, you are better off having me plastic weld it." So net result was MOST of the car was repainted, front bumper repairs and reinforced and.....parking sensors added. My next thing is to make sure they will pick up things that will destroy the front bumper. BUT the car looks AWESOME and the parking sensors do their thing, further testing pending.. My last oil change, I'm not sure I mentioned this, the engine, with 106,000 miles tested like new. Next may be a Pioneer flip out Apple Play, debating on that one. I guess I may have to buy another one, I let a SLK 45/55???? slip through my fingers...Only because granddaughter #1 is driving this one and Granddaughter #2 will be getting her license in 8 months or so..

Update 8.29.26 Had the sensors worked on, now I can pick up a 3" high curb if you are 4' to 5' away, any closer and the beams go over it, but that's better than nothing.

Mind you. That air intake hose... :devilish:

I joined the "V6 new header tank club" for the exact same reason that you and many others have done (y)
Clearly your turn, then. 😁 - Hope it went OK for you.?

S320 airbox, populated with K&N's and homemade 3" pipes + other bitties. It's on here somewhere
I know. It's bookmarked. Ready and waiting. :devilish::cool:

Pretty much (y)

The only issue I had was in seperating the electrical connector from the level sensor, it didn't want to play ball.. at all.. stuck.. and I didn't want to break the connector :censored:
Took a look at the new tank and worked out that the sensor is a push-in and twist-to-lock affair. It's therefore a twist and pull out still connected to it's electrics solution.. Simples and I could have saved myself 15mins of faffery if I'd thought of that earlier :ROFLMAO:

Not been on the forum for a while, but not had much chance to really get out over the last year.
Really not roof down weather today.

Rain sun heavy shower, sun heavy shower, rain.....well this is North Wales!

And add in learner drivers, numpty drivers, and holiday traffic in some places.
Could have been worse but enjoyed the day with Avel du

Well a few more photos of the day.

Also I think you will agree, some great figures from the 350 today

9.23 hrs driving, 365miles in a day.....and disappointed 32.1 mpg. Well I did start in Yorkshire to Chester and back on the motorway.
Have fun y'all

Despite the obstacles, losing my temp repair, flooding the car next to me, catching a brick sized rock and the other hazards Davyd mentions (especially multiple diversions into CLOSED roads), we made the best of it.

Very nice run on one side of the scooby triangle (Denbigh to pentrefoelas) & fairly clear run to betwys y coed.

A break at St Tudnos. Which led to me legging into the cemetery as a headstone there looks like the IoM TT Trophy.
Beatrice Blore Browne. Very interesting lady (& husband) as it turns out.

An horrific discovery. The Great Orme is 20mph! Who knew!

After 10 years of ownership, I received an error message last week for the left side low beam (HID). The left side bulb looked damaged, but I did the usual troubleshooting by swapping the bulbs left to right just to be sure. Thankfully, the problem followed the swap: just a failed bulb. I replaced both HID bulbs with German-made Phillips D2S. The markings on the new bulbs matched exactly what was on the old ones. OEM = Phillips? Regardless, I will be happy to get even half that amount of service from the new bulbs.

I have been schtuum for a while. Back in March, some ar$e smacked into my lovely SLK while it was parked perfectly in the street, and drove off without stopping. How can you not notice you have just hit a car at 30mph??? any how, she needed all new front suspension and steering bits, and as the insurance wanted to write her off as not being worth the candle, I had it all done bit by bit, sourcing the parts myself. Back on the road as good as new last month. I put her in the garage on the ramps yesterday so i can do the now overdue transmission fluid and filter service, and my usual annual poke and push and waxoyl anything that needs it check. I might even bleed the brakes if I can get the bleeders undone w/out snapping them. So I am back, never really having left.

My right latch guide pin has partially snapped off and therefore isn't activating the S69/1 switch. I've ordered a 3d-printed replacement, which cost slightly less than replacing the entire latch, so I thought it was worth it (and means I'm not wasting a mostly operational part). Until it arrives, however...

I got some pliers, twisted and pulled to remove the broken part of the sheath still remaining. Then cut a wall plug/anchor to size, slid it over the metal base of the latch guide pin and wrapped it in electrical and duct tape. Works great as a temporary stopgap!
