Due to a technical issue the old thread with this title has merged with
'What did you do to your SLK today?'.
No posts have been lost, but despite the best efforts of the tech team
they have not been able to undo the merge.

So, this thread will now be the 'Who got their top down in the sun today?' thread.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Then Wheels Cafe, Sykehouse for a hot dog (spicy blighter and HUGE).

Then The Smithy, Monyash for cake.

Sunny mst of the day, some great scenery & finally out in her 350 with Debs driving.

Disaster.

Kettle died last night. Ordered one for collection today.
Trundle in 55. Rain, roof up. Sun roof down. Ended up singing Hokey Cokeyto the sound of roof movement.

Got back and needed to top up our shopping.
55 again
Hokey Cokey…again.

Oddly, it kept taking me longer to get to these shops than the return.

And the disaster?
I like going shopping.
After getting there, I hate the rest.

Cars, vans parking tight to the car. Fortunately I got end bays, so driver door was accessible.

Nice car - lovely scenery!

I took my little car out today - just a short topless trip into town to top up with 156.9p/litre E10 (I think that's 1.96 NKr), then on to a nearby village to drop off a letter which had been misdelivered. Only a short drive, but any SLK topless drive brings LOTS of smiles per gallon!

Ah, the well trodden 51.

Regarding roof up. I’m with Nick and full boot.
An aptly named zone, as if touring with Deb it’s full of boots and shoes.

Might also be not discovering that no roof and pointing ac at legs is very cooling.
Opposite trick to travelling at night but heater instead of ac.

They need to learn to pack better 🤭🤣

Completely agree. If the sky is clear the top is down and heater/ac is applied as required. There's no need for a neck heater if the top is up.

So, 30C plus, zero cloud, light breeze.
Roof stowed, ac on.

Choices.
Beach, lakes, countryside, mountain passes…aha. Wife has handed me a slip of paper (à la Top Gear).

Disappointment (also à la TG).

SHOPPING NOOO!

Wait a moment ‘on my own’.

Not so bad.

I would have chose a market at least 100 mile away. However, not a good return trip for chilled and frozen.

So, 100 miles, buy frozen peas, return to local market.

Success.

Frozen peas gone mushy.
Wrapped in a microfibre cloth, they made a tremendous cushion.

Guess it is fish tonight then. Perhaps with a hint of cheese.

(Been watching too much Clarkson on TG and GT. Note to Jezza, you don’t need a desert to film in Blighty).

Little excursion out to just north of Cheltenham today. Left at 12.00 midday 32C [mad dogs and all that 😃] Broad brim hats, long sleeves, factor 50 and aircon set to footwells. Got some sideways looks on motorway but arrived and returned unscathed by the sun. Very pleasant evening drive back via Cheltenham and various Cotswold lanes and villages. Saw one R171 roof up and another one stopped in a lay by dropping the roof around 7.00pm.

Why the sideways looks? You were properly kitted out as far as I could see....except the hat would curtail the wind in your hair!
Believe me folks, skin cancer is a thing. I had a very good friend succumb to the bastard. Don't think "it can't happen to me".

Not long after I joined we had a couple of members diagnosed with skin cancer.

a hat, running top with hood (help protect the back of the neck), or neck tube & sun protection are sensible even out of the car.

A bottle of water and long life snacks in the wheel well are potential life savers, especially if you hit the car park on the M25.

Those that stare? I just don’t care.

My life, my choice.

Last night we took the 350 for a North Wales spin at night.

Stopped in Corwen for chippy top up.
Roof up for scoff as rain hit.

Then roof down again for the run home, bar the last few miles. Rain started and since it was night I could not be certain if a shower, or worse. As somebody will not put SmartTop into her car, I didn’t want to risk it.
